Make Your Own Pasta!

 

Pasta is something lots of us eat all the time but have you every thought about how it’s made? Our simple recipe will taglia-tell-you how it’s done!

 

Ingredients

  • 300g flour plus extra for dusting (we recommend 00 or semolina flour)
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Add the flour to a large bowl. Knead in the eggs one egg at a time until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too dry add one more egg, too wet add more flour.
  2. Tip the dough onto a floured work surface and knead for 5-10 mins.
  3. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and leave to rest, ideally in the fridge overnight.
  4. Following this roll out the dough. This can be done using a pasta machine or with a rolling pin (however, a rolling pin takes a lot of effort!).
  5. Shape the dough. Pasta comes in many shapes and sizes, cut the dough into long strips for tagliatelle, shape into bow-ties for farfalle, or get creative and make your own shapes!
  6. Boil the pasta- Add the pasta shapes to salted boiling water and cook for 2-3 minutes. Get an adult to help you as this will be hot!
